《合金装备4》Beauty and the Beast成员介绍

　　本文多少会有少量剧透，预先提醒下。

　　B&B作为4代的Boss战队，可以想象为1代的Foxhound，2代的Deadcell，3代的Cobra Unit。

　　每一作的boss战队都会有主题，本作的主题就是Drebin和Snake所讲到的“War transforms us”，你可以看到MGS对于战争的思考以及战争对人性的扭曲。

　　B&B的身世背景会在Boss战结束后统一由Drebin在Codec中为Snake讲述，无一例外。

　　下面就是每一个Boss的故事记叙。如果你英文够好，请忽略作者的翻译，原文总是更有味道的。如果你英文更好，欢迎PM我指点下翻译的不好的地方，我非常期待。

　　

　　Laughing Octopus

　　第一个登场的Boss，她阻住了要去追回Naomi的Snake的去路，她和Snake一样可以通过迷彩来伪装自己，甚至还会变成Mk.II来迷惑Snake。当你战胜她之后，Drebin会讲述下面的故事：

　　she's from a village in Scandinavia, little seaside hamlet known to all the locals as the devil's village.

　　她来自斯堪的纳维亚的一个村庄，被当地人称为恶魔聚居处的海边小村子。

　　Place wasn't known for devils, though. It was known for octopus.

　　但是这地方并不是以恶魔闻名，而是因为章鱼。

　　See, this was one of the few place in Europe where they ate octopus customarily.

　　你看，这是欧洲极少数以吃章鱼为习俗的地方。

　　Anyway, there's this cult of crazies who for some reason hate the village, with a passion.

　　反正，当地的狂热教徒们因为某种理由，盛怒的痛恨着这个村子。

　　Then, when she was just a teenager, things get bad.

　　接着，就在她还是个青少年的时候，局面恶化了。

　　These nutcases get their hands on some weapons and attack the village. Overnight, her sleepy little fishing town beomes a war zone.

　　这些疯子们搞到一些武器并且攻击了村子。一夜之间，她寂静的小渔村变成了战区。

　　They round up all the villagers and execute them one by one.

　　他们集中了村民，然后一个接一个的把他们处决。

　　Except for that girl.

　　除了那个女孩。

　　They had something else planned for her, something a whole lot worse than dying.

　　他们在她身上有着另外的打算，远比死亡还要恶劣的打算。

　　Calling her the Devil's Child, they forced her do the kind of thing you'd except from one of Lucifer's own.

　　称她为恶魔的孩子，他们强迫她做了只有魔鬼才想得出来的事情。

　　Afer they made her torture her family and friends, they made her kill'em.

　　在迫使她折磨了她自己的亲人和朋友后，他们迫使她杀掉他们。

　　The whole time they were forcing her to laugh, howl like some sort of demon, like she was enjoying it.

　　整个过程里，他们都强迫她笑，如同魔鬼般的大笑，就如同她以此为乐一样。

　　What was she gonna do, say no? They'd kill her, too.

　　她能够做什么呢，拒绝？他们也会把她杀了的。

　　So she let fear take control, and did exactly as they told her.

　　于是她让恐惧支配了她，圆满的执行了她所被要求的。

　　She butchered the bodies of the ones she loved, and laughed while she did it.

　　她屠宰了那些她所爱的人的肢体，伴随着笑声。

　　And as she bathed in their blood, it gradually turned from deep red to jet black.

　　当她沐浴在他们的鲜血中时，那些深红逐渐地变成了乌黑。

　　To her, it looked like the ink of an octopus.

　　对她来说，那就像章鱼的墨汁一样。

　　The experience scarred her deep. Ever since then, she hasn't stopped laughing.

　　这体验深深地在她心灵上留下了伤疤，从那时起，她就没有停止过大笑。

　　Only, that ain't really laughter.

　　只是，那实际上根本不是笑声了。

　　Raging Raven

　　在Eva和Snake转移Big Boss的身体的时候，Raging Raven呼啸而至，在一段和3代几乎一样的摩托追击战后，boss战开始，Raging Raven很有点The Fury的感觉，超大的活动范围，无规律可循的滑翔轨迹以及刚猛的火力构成了这场战斗的要素，经过苦战后，RR终于得到了解脱，Drebin则讲述了下面的故事：

　　(How old is she?)（括号内是Snake的说话，下同）

　　她多大了？

　　I'd say about 20. But she had years of soldiers' rage hidden away in that youthful body of hers.

　　我觉得有20左右，但是在她那年轻的身体里承载的是士兵们经年累月的愤怒。

　　(Soldiers?)

　　（士兵？）

　　The soldiers of Aceh, a place that hasn't seen peace in a long, long time.

　　Aceh（印度省份名）的士兵，那是一个长久以来都没有和平的地方。

　　She was captured by one side or another, and kept caged up like an animal along with god knows how many other kids.

　　她被其中的一方捕获，和数不清的孩子们一起如野兽般的被囚禁了起来。

　　(Anonymous violence.)

　　（匿名的暴力行为。）

　　Exactly.

　　一点儿不错。

　　It's unknown whether her captors were with the government or the rebels.

　　我们并不知道到底是政府还是叛军捕获了她。

　　In any case, they got their kicks by abusing these helpless little kids day after day after day.

　　无论如何，日复一日的虐待这些无助的小孩子们给这些人带来了极大的乐趣。

　　That constant barrage, that battlefield rage, slowly built up inside their bodies...their minds.

　　那种持续的阻力，那种战场的愤怒，渐渐地在他们身体内……心灵上扩大。

　　The kids tried to keep each other's spirits up, always clinging to the hope that someone would come to their rescue, barely surviving off scraps of food.

　　孩子们努力的保持着每一个人的精神稳定，总是坚信着会有人来拯救他们，仅仅依靠着残羹剩饭来生存。

　　But those soldiers didn't stop.

　　但是那些士兵们并没有收手。

　　They called the kids parasites and shit-eating ravens. Beat'em even harder.

　　他们称这些孩子是寄生虫和吃屎的乌鸦，更加猛烈的殴打他们。

　　Then one morning, the soldiers just up and left, leaving the surviving kids to be eaten alive by the birds.

　　之后一天早上，士兵们离开了，丢下还生存的孩子们去活生生的被鸟啄食。

　　Almost like one of those sky burials.

　　就如同是天葬一样。

　　One by one, theirs bodies were picked apart by raven's peaks, until finally the flock came for her.

　　一个接着一个，他们的身体被乌鸦的喙啄成了散块，直到最后鸟群来到了她面前。

　　But by some miracles, their peaks cut her bonds instead.

　　但是奇迹般的，它们的喙却把她的镣铐切断了。

　　And like that, she was liberated.

　　就这样，她被解放了。

　　In that instant, she was filled with an uncontrollable rage, and it smothered her soul.

　　在那一瞬间，她内心充满了无法控制的狂怒，那狂怒扼杀了她的灵魂。

　　She ripped the ravens pecking at her to pieces and then went after the soldiers.

　　她把还在啄她的乌鸦撕成了碎片，然后去追那些士兵。

　　And when she finally caught up with them, she waited until nightfall like a hunter awaiting its prey.

　　当她最终赶上他们的时候，她就如同等待猎物的猎手一样等到了夜幕降临。

　　They say that when a raven cries, a man dies.

　　人们都说，乌鸦啼，人将死。

　　And that's exactly what happened that night.

　　而那一夜就是这样的。

　　Screeching and carving, she killed every last living being in the camp, both the soldiers and the civilians they'd enslaved.

　　伴随着尖叫声和肉被切开的声音，她屠绝了营地里的每一个活着的生物，包括士兵和被他们奴役的平民。

　　In her eyes, there was no longer a difference.

　　在她眼里，那已经不再有区别了。

　　The cruelty her friends had suffered, the pain and humiliation she'd endured...

　　她朋友所经历的残酷，她所忍受的痛苦和羞辱...

　　Hers was the distillation of the rage that decades of war had imparted on those soldiers.

　　她就是数十年战争所给与士兵的愤怒的结晶。

　　It was her strength---and her greatest weakness.

　　这是她的力量，也是她最大的弱点。

　　Crying Wolf

　　在影子摩西的冰天雪地中，又一只雪狼阻挡了Snake的去路，与九年前一样，这次依然是一个女人...恶劣的能见度，十数名杂兵的干扰，嗅觉和活动都异常灵敏的Boss，这是一场无比严酷的战斗。

　　最后Snake解脱了第三只野兽，狼如同九年前那时一样，再一次带着女人消失在了阿拉斯加的风雪里...而Drebin带来了第三个故事：

　　You don't need me to tell you there's whole nation africa tearing themselves apart in the name of ethnic cleansing.

　　不用我说你也知道，有一个非洲国家以种族净化的名义把它自己分裂开来。

　　（根据Crying Wolf的年龄和肤色以及MGS4的发生时间来推断，这应该说的是第一，第二次刚果战争，但是在非洲打着种族净化旗号的冲突实在是数不胜数，因此作者的想法不一定准确。）

　　Well, she was born into that environment.

　　总之，她就出生在那种环境里。

　　When she was a little girl, her village was attacked by rival armed factions.

　　在她还是个小女孩的时候，她的村子被敌对的武装派别所攻击。

　　Her parents and siblings was slaughtered, and she was left a refugee.

　　她的双亲和兄弟姐妹遭到屠杀，而她则成为了难民。

　　She took her last surviving relative, her baby brother, and ran as far as she could away from the war zone.

　　她带着她唯一的幸存亲属，她年幼的弟弟，竭尽全力的逃离了战区。

　　One day, they came across an enemy unit, so she took her brother and hid in an abandoned shack.

　　一天，他们遇到了一支敌人的部队，所以她带着她弟弟躲进了一个被遗弃的棚屋里。

　　And then, her brother started to crying...

　　接着，她弟弟开始哭了……

　　She knew that if the soldiers heard the noise, they would find them and kill them both.

　　她知道如果让士兵们听到，他们就会找到并且杀死他们。

　　So she wrapped her hand as tight as she could around his mouth.

　　所以她使尽全力的用手裹住了他的嘴。

　　As the foot step gradually went away, she came back to her senses.

　　随着脚步声逐渐远去，她恢复了理智。

　　His brother wasn't crying anymore.

　　她弟弟已经不再哭了。

　　Horrified, she pulled her hand away, covered in sweat and spit.

　　带着惊恐，她将手移开，那上面已经沾满了汗水和口水。

　　He wasn't breathing.

　　他没有呼吸了。

　　They say wolves eat their own pups when they die.

　　人们都说狼会吃掉自己已经死掉的狼崽。

　　She was spotted wandering through the thick of battle carring her dead brother in her arms.

　　她被人发现漫游在战火最密集的地方，臂弯里抱有她死去的弟弟。

　　She had vision, too---a wolf walking alongside her.

　　她还有一种幻觉——一只狼并排着走在她旁边。

　　Every night, the wolf would howl and cry, just like her brother did that day.

　　每一夜，狼都会嚎啕大哭，就像她弟弟那天一样。

　　Eventually, she made it to a government-run refugee camp.

　　终于，她到达了一个政府设立的难民营。

　　But by then, her brother's body had rotted away.

　　但是那时，她弟弟的身体已经腐烂了。

　　The camp was crowded with refugees like herself, and little children like her brother.

　　营地里充满了如同她一样的难民，以及如同她弟弟一样的幼童。

　　Day and night she was tormented by the cries of babies.

　　日日夜夜的，她都被婴儿的哭声所折磨着。

　　The wolf that followed her heard her sorrowful screams and answered.

　　那只跟随她的狼听到了她悲哀的叫声并且作出了回应。

　　He made his way around the camp.

　　它在营地里来回周转。

　　And one by one...

　　一个接着一个的……

　　He silenced the children.

　　它让幼童安静了下来。

　　She tried to stop it, but she was powerless to stop the wolf.

　　她尝试去阻止它，但她是那么的无力。

　　A few days passed,and on the eve of the enemy's raid, there wasn't a child left.

　　几天后，在敌人突袭的前夕，孩子们已经一个都不剩了。

　　The adults who survived were torn up pretty bad.

　　那些还活着的成年人则被撕成了碎片。

　　Of course, there never was any wolf in that camp.

　　当然，营地里根本就没有狼。

　　She was the one who killed those babies.

　　她才是杀死了那些婴儿的人。

　　But she couldn't bring herself to admit it.

　　但她却无法让自己去正视这一点。

　　She couldn't bear the thought of herself going from one baby to the next, hollowing like a wolf, snuffing out their little lives.

　　她无法承受这种想法：一个婴儿接着一个婴儿的，如狼一般的嚎嗥着，掐灭他们幼小的生命之火。

　　And she never did, even as Crying Wolf, a lonely beast forever stalking the battlefield.

　　于是她从来也没承认过，即使是成为了哀嚎雪狼，一只永远都在战场上猎食的寂寞野兽。

　　Screaming Mantis

　　在Outer Haven的中枢，那个有着“Second greatest boss”之称的人的继承者出现在了最后的道路上，毫无悬念的Meryl又成了被操纵的傀儡……一切都是那么的熟悉，唯一的变化就是这一次是PS3了……于是……

　　Mantis came form South America, she was born and rised in a country wracked by never-ending civil wars.

　　螳螂来自南美，在一个被永不停止的内战所破坏的国家里出生和成长。

　　Her village was attacked by enemy forces and burned to the ground.

　　她的村庄被敌人的部队攻击，并且烧成了白地。

　　This was when she was still a little girl.

　　这都发生在她还只是个小姑娘的时候。

　　Hunted by enemy death squads, she was separated from her family.

　　被敌人的行刑队所追捕，她与她的家人失散了。

　　（death squad：行刑队，拉丁美洲国家内右派组织,专事谋杀左派分子或是自由派分子）

　　She barely managed to escape with her life...Ended up in the basement of this one building.

　　她几乎成功的逃脱了性命……却在这座建筑物的地下室里停住了。

　　It was full of corpses that had been dumped there.

　　这里充斥着被抛弃于此的尸体。

　　Almost all of them had been tortured to death.

　　几乎全部都是被拷打致死的。

　　She was petrified with fear.

　　她被吓得几乎僵化了。

　　And then she heard the sound of heavy boots on the floor above her, followed by shrieking screams, the kind that would make every hair on your body stand straight up.

　　然后她听到了厚重的靴子声从楼上的房间传来，接踵而至的是尖叫声，那种能让你毛骨悚然的尖叫声。

　　She had stumbled across a makeshift torture chamber.

　　她偶然发现了一个临时代用的拷问室。

　　Somebody had locked the door, and she was trapped.

　　有人把门锁住了，而她则被困在了里面。

　　It was dark, it was dank. And it was full of a wretched stench.

　　黑暗，潮湿，又充满了恶臭。

　　She couldn't sleep with the scream of torture victims all around her.

　　在被拷打的受害者的尖叫中，她无法入睡。

　　All she could do was sit curled up in one corner of the room, trembling.

　　而她能做的，就只是蜷缩在房间角落里，颤抖着。

　　A week passed, then ten days.

　　一个星期过去了，之后是十天。

　　She managed to keep hydrated by drinking filthy water pooled upon the floor, but there was no food.

　　她通过喝房间地板上淤积的臭水来保持身体水分，但是却没有食物。

　　Being trapped in that kind of place, half-crazy from hunger, did a serious number on her mind.

　　被困在那样的地方，被饥饿折磨至半疯，给她的精神带来了严重的打击。

　　Did you know female mantis eat their mates?

　　你是否知道雌螳螂会吃掉她们的伴侣？

　　The screams went on day and night, she covered her ears but it didn't help.

　　尖叫声日夜不停，她尝试捂住耳朵却无济于事。

　　And then, she was saved...

　　之后，她得救了……

　　By a little black mantis, that thaught her how to block out the screams, how to plug up her inner ears.

　　被一只小的黑螳螂，它教会了她如何阻挡尖叫声，如何塞住她的内耳。

　　(What the hell are you talking about?)

　　（你究竟在说些什么？）

　　I'm saying, Snake, that when she couldn't stand the hunger any longer, she started feeding on the corpses...

　　我是在说，Snake，当她无法在忍受饥饿的时候，她开始以尸体为食。

　　But only the male ones.

　　但是只吃男性的。

　　She didn't realize who was doing it.

　　她并没有意识到是谁在这么做。

　　In her mind, it was a female mantis, devouring her mates.

　　在她的意识中，是一只雌螳螂，正在吞咽她的配偶。

　　It was like one big, twisted walking dream.

　　就像一个巨大的，被扭曲了的白日梦。

　　There was no mantis, of course.

　　当然，其实是没有螳螂的。

　　It was all a hallucination.

　　那都是一种幻觉。

　　Nothing more than some story spun by another person she'd created inside.

　　Her unstable mind was what made her so vulnerable.

　　她不稳定的意识致使她是如此的脆弱。

　　Later they ripped out what was left of her psyche with drugs and hypnosis, and implanted the persona of Psycho Mantis.

　　不久后他们用药物和催眠抹去了她剩余的精神，并且植入了精神螳螂的人格。

　　It wasn't her will that controlled the BBs, it was Psycho Mantis, half-assimilated into her soul, pulling the strings.

　　并不是她的意愿在控制着Beauty and the Beast，而是精神螳螂的，半同化进了她的灵魂，操纵着木偶线。

　　Screaming Mantis was just another puppet.

　　尖叫螳螂只不过是另外一个傀儡。

　　Anyway, she survied several weeks down in that hellhole and finally got back to the surface.

　　总之，她在那地狱里存活了数周，最终回到了地面上。

　　But the screams in her head didn't subside.

　　但那些在她脑海里的尖叫却没有平息下来。

　　They would always be with her...Only this time, they weren't real.

　　它们将会永远伴随着她……只是这一次，它们不是真的了。

　　The inner earplugs didn't work anymore. The black mantis had disappeared.

　　内耳塞不再管用了。黑螳螂消失了。

　　There was no place left to escape.

　　无处可逃。

　　Which is why she was always screaming---to drown out the ones in her own head.
